DESCRIPTION:Black History Sites in Simcoe County\, with Making Change\nThursday\, February 12\, 6pm \nThis engaging 30-minute presentation by Laura LaChapelle from Making Change Simcoe County will highlight early Black settlements established in the 1800s.  Learn about the background of Simcoe County as one of the northern terminus points in the Underground Railroad.  There are many remarkable stories of families who built new lives here\, many of whom became leaders\, farmers\, business owners\, and community builders\, whose descendants continue to contribute to our region today. \nIn partnership with local historians\, museums\, and descendants\, this session will connect the past to the present and remind us that Black history is present in Simcoe County.  Whether you’re a learner\, community member\, educator\, or history enthusiast\, this is a story everyone should know and places everyone should visit. \nFree; please register HERE so we know to expect you.
